Family Game Night

We've been trying to play a new math game every Friday if we have time!  Students definitely remember my promise for a new game each Friday! :)  This week's game was called Making 100 and we had a great time playing.  So much so that students asked for the game to be sent home as a Family Game Night activity.  How could I say no?!?! ;)  So, copies went home earlier in the week.  There is not a due date.  Just play as a family whenever you have time.   I hope you all enjoy the game as much as we did in class!

Also, if you need a deck of cards, I would love to loan some out.  Just have your student ask!

Techy Testing

Our reading tests are getting techy!  Our story assessment over our weekly reading story is usually a paper and pencil test.  Not anymore!  Students will now be taking their assessment on iPads!  Using a QR code projected to the front of the room, students will scan the code and will then be directed to the digital version of the test.  Using their iPad, students will then answer the story comprehension and vocabulary questions.  When they are finished with the assessment, their answers are sent to my computer where they are graded with a Google Doc app called Flubaroo.

While this sounds complicated, it is incredibly simple and students are doing a wonderful job adjusting to the new technology.  Printouts of how your student did on their test will still be sent home for you to see.  Be sure to ask your student about the new test format!
